My shop is approximately 800 sq. ft in the basement of my level entry town house. It took me aproximately 20 years to acquire my tools and it was difficult to find a townhouse that had an unfinished basement that would allow me to build the kind of shop I wanted.
The heart of my system is a Vacuum system connected to every machine and my home made air scrubber
The table saw is a "Ryobi" with the sliding table, you either love it or hate it. For luthier work the sliding table makes it easy to attach and use jigs accurately. The band saw is just an ordinary "Busy Bee" bandsaw. You can can see a metal chop saw in the back ground.
The machine on the far left is a wood master planer, molder, and thickness sander with quick change heads. It was an expensive purchase, but has more than paid for itself over the years. The router table is home made and works well.
On the left you'll see my Taige metal lathe. I make many of my own parts and send them out to be plated. the machine on the right is what I use to buff the parts before having them plated.
Again,on the left is my Delta sander. it's what I use to form my bone nuts and saddles. I use many differint kind of chisles, planes and various cutting tools. This simple water wheel keeps them sharp. To the back of the water wheel you'll see the Craftsmen variable speed scroll saw.
A regular Makita chop saw. The picture on the right is my Paint both. Proper 8" ducting and an Exaust fan keeps the small booth clear. I haven't got the door up yet but the plastic works just fine. The booth was a simple request by my wife. For some reason the lingering smell of laquer throughtout the house bothered her.
